OWNER AND MANAGERS
MEET OUR office STAFF

Owner – Kara Jenkins
Kara Jenkins was born in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, where she and her family raised many animals, including cats, dogs, birds, gerbils, fish, mice, and horses. One of her loves was helping her mother breed, train, and show their Golden Retrievers. While growing up, she worked at her mother’s boarding and grooming kennel, where she learned about the different types of cats and dogs as well as their behaviors. She also helped with all facets of the kennel’s operations including walking dogs, training, grooming, and marketing.
Kara graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Special Education and a minor in Exercise Sports Science. While attending college she cared for several of her friends’ pets whenever they were away, including some exotic species such as an iguana, a boa constrictor, and piranhas.
In 2001, Kara started TLC House and Pet sitting service and has continued to provide professional pet sitting services to TLC’s customers in their own home environment ever since. Inspired by her love of animals, she continues to keep up to date with new developments and share her own experiences through volunteer work. She has served as the President of Arizona Professional Pet Sitting & Associates (www.appsa.net), and was on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters for 7 years (www.petsitter.org).
As a leader in pet care, Kara has been featured in many newspapers as well as in a national magazine. Kara has received her Pet CPR certification, oversees an annual donation campaign for sheltered pets and attends regular conferences for pet sitting professionals. She is well-known in the animal care industry, and has built long lasting relationships with veterinarians, groomers, trainers, rescue groups and other vendors in the community.
Kara’s main objective is to never stop learning about animals and their behavior to merit her clients’ trust and ensure their peace of mind.
Kara loves spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and her own pets: Niko, a Golden Retriever who died 2010, and Brownie, a rescued Chocolate Lab who died 2010, and Hunter a rescued Lab/Golden.
Kara’s philosophy for running a successful business is that to gain a client’s trust, she must offer pet care and open communication backed by experience and continued education, to provide exceptional service for each client and their pets.

Office Manager – Robyn
Robyn was born in New Jersey and has always had a houseful of pets, ranging from cats and dogs, to lizards, frogs, rats, rabbits and birds. For a few years before she started her Human family she even rescued and rehabbed Iguanas.
Currently, Robyn lives with her fiancé and their 3 furless children, along with her “herd” which consists of the mutts – Shaggy and Merlot; the cats – Trouble, Cleo and Monjee; the fids- Banshee the conure and Pooka the parakeet; and last, but not least, a bearded dragon named Godzilla, 5 fancy rats, and a tank full of hermit crabs. The neighborhood kids love coming over to play at the “zoo”!
Robyn often takes her smaller pets with her to run errands and to the kids’ classrooms, using them as ambassadors to help introduce people to animals they may not have considered as conventional pets. Robyn says the best part is when people walk up and start petting the rats without even realizing what they are, and then are shocked at how friendly, clean and affectionate they are.
Robyn works in the office Monday through Friday answering phone calls and emails and taking care of our clients visits and walks. Having so many furkids of her own, she understands how important it is for our staff to care for your babies exactly as you would care for them yourself, and that each pet has unique needs and personalities that need to be considered.

Office Assistant – Tori
Tori grew up in southern Illinois with her family and pets, including dogs, cats, a hamster, and fish. When she and her husband moved to Arizona to be closer to family and job opportunities in 2016, Tori brought her customer service and office administration expertise to work with Robyn to help keep TLC up to date and organized. Since she was little, she she has been learning the pet sitting side of the business, so that she is versed in every facet of TLC’s day-to-day operation.
